FAQs — Hero Foundation candidate guide

No. The Hero Foundation is a registered charity. All of our services are completely free for candidates — including profile support, matching, and interview coaching. There is no cost at any stage.

On a standard job board, your application goes into a pile, and you wait. With the Hero Foundation, our team actively follows up on every application you make. We contact the employer directly, vouch for you by name, and work in the background to make sure your strengths are seen.

You cannot attach a custom CV or cover letter through the 1-Click Apply journey. If you want to include one, you need to use the standard search-and-apply pathway:

1. Log in to employmenthero.com/jobs/.
2. Use the search bar to find the role. Do not apply from a matched role SMS or from the Matched Roles section.
3. Open the listing from the search results and apply through the full application form.

First, check your settings. The most common cause is that one or more of the required toggles is turned off. Check:

• Profile Settings: "Let hiring managers know you're open to work" — must be ON.
• Notification Settings: "Marketing communications" — must be ON.
• Notification Settings: SMS notifications — must be ON.

Second, make sure your profile is complete. Incomplete profiles receive fewer or no matches.

Yes. Go to the Applications tab, find the relevant application, tap the three-dot menu (⋯), and select Withdraw application. You have full control over your applications at any time.

Reply as soon as you can. Fast responses show employers that you're motivated and professional. Go to My Messages (the envelope icon in the top navigation) to read and reply. You can also find the message from the Applications tab.

All roles on Employment Hero Jobs are accessible to Hero Foundation candidates. For any role you apply for through the Foundation, we spotlight your application — meaning the employer knows you're backed by us and will hear from our team directly.

Yes. If you've been shortlisted for an interview, we offer one-to-one preparation to help you feel confident and ready. We'll work through what to expect, how to talk about your experience, and how to present yourself well. Email us at HeroFoundation@employmenthero.com to arrange a session.

Log in to employmenthero.com/jobs/ and go to your Profile. You can update any section at any time — availability, work history, skills, contact details. Keep your profile current for the best matching results, especially if your availability changes.

The Hero Foundation currently works specifically with candidates referred through our partner organisations — registered charities, training providers, and support organisations.
