Why your settings matter
Your settings control whether employers can find you, whether we can contact you about matched roles, and whether you receive the notifications that keep your applications moving. All of the settings below work together — if any one of them is off, you risk missing a matched role or an employer message.
Our recommendation: turn everything on, apart from ‘Make my profile public’.
Profile settings
Go to: Profile → Settings → Profile Settings.
Make my profile public
This allows your profile to be visible to anyone, including non-Employment Hero users. We recommend leaving this OFF — the "Let hiring managers know you're open to work" toggle below is the more targeted option.
Let hiring managers know you're open to work
Turn this ON. This is the most important profile visibility setting. When it's on, you appear as a top match for relevant jobs and hiring managers can see your profile. Without this, you won't show up in employer searches, and matched roles won’t be sent to you.
AI-Generated Insights
Turn this ON. This lets the platform generate a tailored summary of your strengths and experience, which is shared directly with employers on their recruitment dashboard. It helps recruiters quickly understand your value and relevance to their job.
Notification settings
Go to: Profile → Settings → Notification Settings.
Get personalised job alerts and insights
Turn this ON. This is essential to receive roles matched to your profile. If this is off, you won’t receive notifications when a new job opens that would be a great fit for your profile. This setting is on by default — don't turn it off.
Marketing communications
Turn this ON. This is required for us to contact you about interview support, exclusive job opportunities only open to Foundation candidates, and other relevant candidate-facing content. We promise we won’t bombard you with marketing, and will never send anything not relevant to you as a Foundation candidate searching for work.
Job application reminders
Turn this ON. You'll receive a nudge if there's an action needed to keep your application moving — for example, if you haven't answered screening questions, or if a hiring manager is waiting on a response from you.
Never miss another job opportunity with SMS notifications
Turn this ON. This is how we send matched role alerts to your phone. Without SMS notifications enabled, you will not receive the text messages that notify you of new matches. This is one of the most important settings to have active.
In Summary
Turn all notification settings ON. Turn "Let hiring managers know you're open to work" ON. Turn "AI-Generated Insights" ON. Leave "Make my profile public" OFF unless you specifically want full public visibility.
