Your profile is your virtual CV
Your profile is the most important tool you have. It acts as your virtual CV and is what employers — and our matching technology — see first. Before you do anything else, take the time to complete it fully.
A complete profile leads directly to better matching. The more information you add, the more accurately the platform can connect you to roles that suit you.
The simplest way to complete your profile is to upload a CV. Our technology will turn that CV into a full profile that you can edit and improve.
How to complete your profile
- Navigate to your Profile by clicking Profile in the navigation bar at the top of the site.
- Upload a CV to complete the education and work experience sections fast.
- If your profile is incomplete, you’ll see this ‘Profile setup’ area, where our technology will encourage you to complete more of your profile.
What to complete in your profile
1. Fill out every section
Don't skip anything. A complete profile shows employers you're serious and ready to work.
2. All experience counts
Add every job, volunteer role, work placement, and life experience you have. Even if it's in a completely different industry from the roles you're applying for, lived experience, community work, and career changes are all relevant. Don't undersell yourself.
3. Add your skills
Skills help the matching technology connect you with the right roles. Think broadly: communication, reliability, teamwork, time management, and customer service are all skills worth including. Use the platform's suggested skills as a prompt.
4. Set your availability
Let employers know exactly how soon you can start, what your weekly availability looks like, whether you’re looking for onsite, hybrid or remote roles, and whether you want full-time, part-time, or casual. We have created all the fields so you can be really specific about what you want, and we can match you well to your availability.
5. Upload certifications, cover letters, and versions of your resume
When you apply for a job, you apply with your profile. That means, if you’ve uploaded your Working With Children Check or AFP Police Check, you can prove to employers that you have these and are ready to work. This reduces barriers and makes your profile more appealing to hiring managers. If you’re applying for different kinds of roles, you can upload multiple resumes to attach different resumes to applications.
Pro tip
Use an AI tool like ChatGPT to help identify transferable skills. Share a description of your previous experience and the job title you're targeting — it will help you find relevant skills from past roles that you might have overlooked.
How to keep your profile current
Your profile is what gets sent to employers when you apply — especially via our matching technology (covered in Article 5, Two ways to applu). Make it a habit to review and update it whenever your situation changes: new availability, a completed course, a new skill, or a change in the types of work you're looking for.
