You can use the leave approval feature on the Employment Hero Work app to see your employee-submitted leave requests and then approve or decline these submissions. You can also use this feature to filter what leave requests you see on your approval page, giving you the ability to tailor what employee submissions you see on the app.

If leave management is one of your most commonly-used features, then this will appear on the Employment Hero Work home screen as a shortcut for easy access.
Daily activities
- Log into the Employment Hero Work app.
- Tap the Work icon.
- Select Leave option from the top menu.
- Select the Leave Management page view option
- Tap the leave request you want to approve.
- Tap the Approve button to approve the request or the Decline button to decline the request.
- If you tap the Decline button, enter the reason for declining in the Reason field.
- Log into the Employment Hero Work app.
- Tap the Work icon.
- Select the Leave option from the top menu.
- Select the Leave Management page view option.
- Tap the leave request you want to cancel.
- Tap the Cancel Leave Request button.
- When given the options to Decline or Approve, tap Approve to confirm the cancellation (otherwise, tap Decline so the cancellation is withdrawn).
Helpful hint
The Leave Management home page only shows a few requests at a time and only pending requests. It means you may want to search and filter these results when looking for a specific employee’s requests.
Editing data
Helpful hint
When an employee has insufficient leave accrued or there are overlapping leave requests, you may wish to edit a leave request. You can also add any extra relevant attachments like further medical certificates or supporting documents that have been provided to you that are relevant to the request.
When editing a partially applied leave request, you can edit the last day of leave, work hours, notes and add an attachment. The status of an amended, partially applied leave request will update to In Progress if there are hours not yet applied. If a leave request is amended to the full amount of hours already applied in a pay run, then we will automatically approve the leave request when submitted.
- Log into the Employment Hero Work app.
- Tap the Work icon.
- Select the Leave option from the top menu.
- Select the Leave Management page view option.
- Tap the leave request you want to edit.
Helpful hint
You can only edit a leave request before you apply it or only part apply it in a pay run. You can not edit a fully applied leave request.
If the request shows as pending, it may be easily found on the leave management homepage. Otherwise, you may need to search for it. For pending or approved leave requests, you can edit any of the fields.
- Tap the Save button.
Further information
Log in to the Swap app using the same login credentials you previously used for your payroll/Employment Hero Work login. Tap on the Work icon. From the dashboard view that the app opens in, select Leave from across the top of the screen.

Now, you need to toggle the Leave View switch from the My Leave option, to the Leave Management option. If in doubt about what setting you are on, look at how many people are shown. If you see one person, that means you are on the Leave Mangement display. If you can see multiple people, then you are on the My Leave display.
